For women in disadvantaged communities a bra is often unattainable and unaffordable. The Uplift Project collects new and second-hand bras and sends them wherever they have request including Fiji, The Philippines, The Kimberly and Papua New Guinea. Violeta Finance’s Jo recently coordinated a huge collection for The Uplift Project.
With dozens of women generously donating, Jo coordinated seven drop off points across the Bayside and Mornington Peninsula Region. Drop off points included our office, Keats Accounting, KP Performance Training Studio and Bloom Networking, also several local mums kindly volunteered to host drop off points at their homes.
Our community really pulled together and in total we collected over 400 items for the Uplift Project.
The Uplift Project makes a huge difference in women’s lives. For many women in the disadvantaged communities that The Uplift Project distribute to, the only bra they may ever own is the one donated by The Uplift Project. A bra can make an amazing difference to these women’s lives, removing a barrier from attending appointments and job interviews and if they work in the fields helping to relieve discomfort.
We are so honoured to have been able to play a small role in helping this important cause.
